Crawling to the Rain

As the daylight from the afternoon sun dazzled his eyes, he realised the impending ascent was far nearer than it had seemed. Nevertheless, there existed a feeling of displacement.
Where was the fiery passion that burned within? Where was the sense of urgency that consumed his days? They seemed to be so far in a distant memory now.

The young apprentice trotted on. He knew he had to for it was hardly an option.

The recalcitrant Hyde bought over 51% of the shares. Alas, Jekyll was impuissant, his business acumen had lost its former sharpness. It was another failed negotiation.

The young apprentice moved pass the classic literary novel. He knew he had to peruse a different genre.

The rage of the afternoon sun had quelled. But its beams of heat cooled his mind. What was this heat when compared to that treacherous feeling of displacement.

It was a desolate land. Nothing in sight yet noises for hearing.
"Whhhrrrr....."
"Vrrruuoommm....."

"Zrrrroomm...."

"I stand here to receive you", came a voice.
It appeared so remote.

It wasn't too late.

The young apprentice was dehydrated. Rain clouds had gathered. His weary trudge had diminished to an imperceptible crawl, on his knees.
