TK had it's annual REU Family Day on Sunday. What a blast it was! Numerous families and youths of all ages gathered together for a morning of worship, fellowship, song, games, and laughter.
Walking away from the bustling activities, my eye caught hold of a blissful sight. 2 young brothers aged 5 and 7 were by themselves looking at the sea. Silently, I crept up behind them. Listening to them, it was both amusing and tenderly endearing.
[Amusing because they were talking about things that made no sense to me! :) ]
Before long, I got their attention. They didn't say anything.
We looked at the sea for a while.
I pointed out something to them that was on the breakwater, scurrying about sideways. It amused them both because they've read about it in their children's stories.
Or perhaps, they had seen it before in Spongebob Squarepants.
It was a lovely, little crab.
They called him "Mr Krab".
This is the short story of a crab that bonded the 3 of us for that brief moment. But things that ran through my mind went deeper.
In time, these young boys would grow up to be strong and abled-youths.
It is my hope that they would grow up to be willing and obedient servants of the Lord;
that they would grow up to be friends and examples to themselves and others;
that they would be the future pillars of the Church.
REU day means so much because it reinforces the faith that we have in the Lord Jesus being the real Teacher of our young ones.
May God Teach us all, everyday of our lives.

Why no Connecting Flight? (appendix)
As an afternote, I've posted the rough sketch of the map of Philip's journey as outlined in Acts 8 : 26 - 40.
I was researching into the distance between Samaria and the desert road from Jerusalem leading to Gaza. And what I found out based on rough estimation amazed me even more. The Bible does not state where along the Desert Road did Philip exactly establish contact with the Ethiopian eunuch. A conservative estimate would put the distance at approximately 45miles (72.5km).
Now we're talking!
I may not be at that level to fully understand yet, but I'm starting to see the real value in the long, solo journey that he undertook.
